Xarxes semàntiques en el lèxic disponible de València. Una aproximació al lexicó bilingüe

2016

This work deals with the situation of languages in contact and explores the nature of bilingual lexicon by studying lexical availability. Based on the results published in 2010 in Lèxic disponible de València, and in relation to 'town' as the center of interest, the study applied a new analytical tool called DispoGrafo, which enabled us to observe issues related to the construction and organization of the mental lexicon, for example, the incidence or profitability of facilitating semantic-priming-in clusters made up of three or more closely linked elements. The sample was obtained from 464 high school students of 2nd baccalaureate in the Valencia province, and was established to represent t…

Conceptions of happiness and its relationship with subjective well-being: A study through Natural Semantic Networks

2018

Continuum: A spatiotemporal data model to represent and qualify filiation relationships

2013

International audience; This work introduces an ontology-based spatio-temporal data model to represent entities evolving in space and time. A dynamic phenomenon generates a complex relationship network between the entities involved in the process. At the abstract level, the relationships can be identity or topological filiations. The existence of an identity filiation depends on whether the object changes its identity or not. On the other hand, topological filiations are based exclusively on the spatial component, like in the case of growth, reduction, merging or splitting. When combining identity and topological filiations, six filiation relationships are obtained, forming a second abstrac…

WORDY: a Semi-automatic Methodology aimed at the Creation of Neologisms based on a Semantic Network and Blending Devices

2017

In this paper, we propose a semi-automatic tool, named WORDY, that implements a methodology aimed at speeding-up the pro- cess of creation of neologisms. The approach exploits a semantic network, which is explored through the spreading activation methodology and ex- ploits three blending linguistic techniques together with a proper ranking function in order to support companies in the creation of neologisms ca- pable of evoking semantic meaningful associations to customers.

Individuals’ Use of E-Mail Communication Genres in Open Source Software Community Building

2011

The advent of the participative Internet (Web 2.0) sheds a new light on traditional knowledge about communication practices. The role of information and communication technologies seems to be very central in managerial literature, while the human side of the issue is less considered. This paper argues that individuals establish communication genres as semantic templates for accomplishing their communicative projects. Communication genres are codes of default behavioral expectations resulting from recurrent communication actions over the time. By using semantic network analytical techniques, our argument is explored in a particular empirical setting, that is, a virtual community of open sour…
